Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Business and Technology Professional/Abington
Senior High School senior, Alimah Kasumu, is preparing for a career in the business field while in high school. The real-world atmosphere and experiences she has gained through her career and technical program at EASTERN has helped her with her own small business ventures.

Alimah chose the Business and Technology Professional program at EASTERN because she always had strong entrepreneurial spirit. She has already started two small businesses, a clothing line and a line of natural cosmetics. She recently placed first in the local SkillsUSA Technical Computer Applications competition and will be advancing to the district level later this month. SkillsUSA is EASTERN’s student leadership organization. At Abington Senior High School, Alimah is the President of the Fashion Club in which she organizes Fashion Club meetings and plans activities – such as an upcoming fashion show.

“Alimah’s academic performance is excellent. She takes her education seriously and is always willing to go the extra mile to help her peers,” said Marketa Crane, EASTERN’s Business and Technology Professional Instructor. “She is an exceptional young lady who is dedicated to succeeding and passionate about her career path.”

Upon graduating from EASTERN and Abington Senior High School, Alimah will be attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles to continue her education in fashion and entrepreneurship.

The Business and Technology Professional program prepares students for a career in a professional business environment. Students study the current Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other communications technologies. Students will leave the program well-versed on creating spreadsheets, composing correspondence, managing databases, creating presentations, document management and the use of office machines. Students will enhance their communication, independent thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and soft skills. To learn more
