Fred always knew he wanted a career in which he would work with his hands. As a sophomore at Cheltenham High School, he visited EASTERN’s Open House, toured several programs, and found the Electrical Technology program the right fit for him.

Fred was interviewed by Aramark on May 10, 2017 and was chosen from a pool of 10 EASTERN student applicants. Through this internship, Fred, who already had a solid base in the electrical field, now learns other aspects of building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC. After he completes his one year, paid internship, he will have the option to stay with the company and be transferred to another Aramark site.

“When I started in Electrical Technology at EASTERN, I was pleased to find that you also learn some things about other construction trade areas. As a senior in the Electrical Technology program, my program worked with Construction Technology and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning to build a full-scale house,” said Fred. “My experiences at EASTERN opened my mind to learning many skills I can use in my everyday life and the classroom experience at EASTERN truly prepared me for this internship.”

Electrical Technology at EASTERN teaches the basics of electricity as well as residential and commercial wiring, data cabling and basic fiber optic installation. For more on the Electrical Technology program at EASTERN, please visit
