Prepare for a Career in Healthcare While in High School at EASTERN

Allied Health at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove is a great opportunity for high school seniors to get a head start on a healthcare career. EASTERN has 13 state-of-the art programs, most of which are two years in length for high school juniors and seniors. Allied Health is EASTERN’s only one-year program exclusively for high school seniors in Eastern Montgomery County, including Abington, Bryn Athyn, Cheltenham, Hatboro-Horsham, Jenkintown, Lower Moreland, Springfield, Upper Dublin, and Upper Moreland.

Allied Health prepares the student for success in such career fields as nursing, radiation therapy or technology, cardiovascular and respiratory technology, physician’s assistant, and nurse practitioner. Starting in October, students spend every Tuesday and Thursday at Abington Memorial Hospital shadowing a healthcare professional. Every few weeks, the students move to a different floor in the hospital so they get a clear view of all the professions in the healthcare field.

Allied Health students also have the opportunity to earn three transferable college credits through EASTERN’s dual enrollment partnership with Montgomery County Community College. To learn more about EASTERN’s Allied Health program, please visit the program webpage at
