Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) will host an Apprentice Information Night on Thursday, June 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at their campus located at 3075 Terwood Road in Willow Grove. The purpose of the event is to introduce area employers to the concept of apprenticeship in general, and to EASTERN’s Continuing Education programs for adults. EASTERN is a community-based career and technical institution currently offering a successful four-year Electrical Apprenticeship Program with plans to develop and offer HVAC and Welding Apprenticeship Programs for Eastern Montgomery County employers. Representatives from the PA Department of Labor & Industry, the Steamfitters Union, and current EASTERN employer sponsor’s will be present providing their insight and perspective. Highlights will include a keynote presentation by Eric Ramsay, PA Department of Labor & Industry – Office of Apprenticeship, “Build & Service” presentation by Peter Klein from Steamfitters Local Union 420, an overview of new EASTERN Continuing Education programs for Fall, and an opportunity to network with local employers.
“We are looking forward to making new connections locally to benefit our Continuing Education students, and to benefit the companies that we partner with to train employees,” said Gary Albert, EASTERN’s Continuing Education Coordinator. “The goal is to open our doors and to get the word out about our growing apprenticeship opportunities.”
