On December 15, 2015, two Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Automotive Technology high school seniors and student-qualifiers for the 2016 Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia High School Auto Tech Competition to be held February 26, 2015, were awarded 25 percent scholarships to Universal Technical Institute (UTI). Congratulations to Sean Hagerty from Upper Dublin High School, and Michael Steinmetz from Hatboro-Horsham High School. The EASTERN Automotive Technology class ranked second out of 18 other schools in the exam.
In order to be selected as a qualifier, Hagerty and Steinmetz needed to participate in the regional competition that consisted of a 100 question written exam. Of the approximately 100 students who took the exam, the 24 individuals who received the highest marks advanced to the hands-on portion of the event. The hands-on competition will consist of 12 teams of two students. Each team had to complete 10 different work stations, which focused on emissions, automotive fundamentals, diagnostics, information technology, communication skills and more.
