On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, EASTERN held its annual Awards Night at 7 p.m. at Upper
Moreland High School. This year, 153 students were recognized for their achievements with $55,000 awarded in the form of scholarships, tools of the trade, plaques, certificates and checks. Awards Night recognizes students who have achieved Straight A, Students of the Month through the year, medal winners at SkillsUSA District and State Competitions, winners of special end-of-year awards, and those who have achieved the Attendance Award. EASTERN is pleased to announce that several new awards were instituted for this year’s Awards Night such as the Magdeline Felmey Memorial Award, the Edward Duff Memorial Award, and the Post-Secondary Education Award.
“This was a great evening of recognition for our outstanding students, while also acknowledging EASTERN’s 50 years of providing state-of-the-art career and technical education,” said Joe Greb, EASTERN’s Assistant Director. “The auditorium was filled with EASTERN staff, faculty, participating school principals, administrators, and our amazing award recipients and their families. We are very grateful for the support and positivity of this involved community. Congratulations to all of our award winners.”
Student awards are provided by the EASTERN Foundation, and supported by businesses,
various community organizations, and individual donors. The purpose of EASTERN’s Foundation is to recognize EASTERN student achievement and success, by assisting both students whose goal is post-secondary education and students who intend to start a rewarding career. Our business and industry partners inspired this effort and continue to support it extensively.
